1st and 2nd for Purley 

Kevin and I played at Walton Heath last week in the Guildford Alliance 36 hole Championship and I am happy to tell you that it was a 1 and 2 for Purley with the old Head Pro coming out on top by 2 shots. This is the 1st tournament I have won in 6 years and the 1st ever 36 hole event. 

So apologies to anybody who was in the club last Wednesday when we arrived back and had to listen to our rather loud celebrations.

 

So who went to their beds and missed all the excitement on Sunday evening!? 

What a great climax to a great sporting event. 

Well done to Danny Willett, when Spieth opened the door he really did jump through it.

Greens 

Do you know what you do with these? 

They are bio gradable pegs that are used to hold divots in place, so if you see one on the course it probably the work of Crows and not a lazy golfer. 

The pegs are situated on the 1st tee so why not take a handful the next time you are going out for a friendly game. 

 

Get rid of that slice 

If you struggle with a slice try this drill. 

- Stand a foot away from the wall 
- Using your driver with the head cover on, take up you address position 
- Take the club up to the top of your backswing 
- Start the downswing by pushing the headcover against the wall 
- Slowly start the downswing moving your hands out in front of you while the head cover starts down remaining against the wall. 

By practising this drill it will help you to keep the head of the driver behind you for longer, reducing that over the top movement that leads to that dreaded slice.
