The Clock Drill
This week Kevin did a well known drill with one of his students called the clock drill. Some of you may have heard of this drill, but not fully aware of how helpful it can be for you.
The clock drill is based around pitching and using your left arm as a clock dial, this is a very good way to gain accurate distances for pitch shots. If you look at the grid below, this shows the average carry distance for each club listed by swinging back a certain distance in your swing. It's important to maintain the same rhythm in the swing to achieve the most consistency for each shot.
This grid will take an hour to do and we can make a small a6 laminated sign to attach to your golf bag so you always know how far you hit each club for whatever pitch shot you are faced with. This will be a great way to improve your pitching and lower your scores.
European Tour returns to the UK
Each year, the week before the spring bank holiday, Wentworth Club plays host to the BMW PGA Championship; the European Tour's flagship event. It's one of the few times each year where we get the chance to see some of the world's best golfers compete on our shores.
It really is a stellar field this year. Defending champion Chris Wood will face some stiff competition from a host of rising stars such as Tyrrell Hatton, Andy Sullivan and Matthew Fitzpatrick, not to mention major champions Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose. It's going to be a belter.
One other person who will be teeing up in Surrey this week is past Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari. Now it's always interesting to learn a bit more about Tour golfers and what they get up to in their spare time, but you'll never believe Molinari's hidden talent…
