Jack Nicklaus sends words of encouragement to us here Purley Downs Golf Club celebrating our 125th Year after the Captain of 'The Rest' team, Tom Ross, asked for his assistance.

The annual match between the Presidents team v 'The Rest' precedes the club's Prizegiving Ceremony and dinner where 90 members watched with disbelief.

Megan begins her PGA Training Programme

Megan has now started her three-year PGA Training Programme, so we thought we'd bring you a short bio of her golfing achievements and experiences so far...

"My name is Megan Simmons and I would like to formally introduce myself as your new Assistant Professional at Purley Downs Golf Club. All the members and staff have made me feel very welcome and I have already got to know many of you, but I would also like you to know a little bit more about me.

I have been playing golf for 11 years now and started at Langley Park Golf club. I started playing competition golf at the age of nine, and this is where I really found my love for the game. My mum and I have travelled up and down England and even abroad to play in many big competitions, such as Ladies Amateur Opens in Dubai, World Kids in Portugal, Nick Faldo Middle East Tour and the European Golf Tour which led to the final in Liverpool. These amazing experiences led me to be part of the Kent Ladies and U18s England regionals squad.

I am also a volunteer ambassador for Girl’s Golf Rocks, which is sponsored by England Golf and is one of the main reasons why I wanted to become a PGA Professional. I hope to help grow the Junior section and represent the Club in Professional Tournaments."

Spotlight | Callaway JAWS MD5 Wedges
